Ànima Lliure

Ànima Lliure

We continue to champion diversity through Ànima Lliure, a project that aims to transform our theatre into an artistic space open to the perspectives, voices, and bodies of people we do not usually see on stage. Because we believe that theatre is a powerful place to make the invisible increasingly visible.

While last season we hosted leading international productions in the field of diversity, this year we are focusing on supporting local productions:

Nuvolosa, by Clara Manyós, will focus on people affected by ataxia. The project received the Social and Community Action Award granted by the Institut del Teatre.

Un huracà avança alegrement, by Susanna Barranco, in which she will share the stage with her son Jonc, who has an intellectual disability.

Happy End, by Nico Jongen, with whom we already worked last season. Continuing his research into communication within the Deaf community, this time he will place teenagers at the centre of the project.

We are also presenting an international production: Navegar por el Neva, directed by Trinidad González together with the rest of the performers, arriving from Chile as part of Flaix de Tardor – BCN.

The project will be complemented by a workshop for autistic children led by British director Kelly Hunter, who will apply her unique working method based on the works of William Shakespeare, developed through her own experience as an actress with the Royal Shakespeare Company. The workshop will be held in collaboration with the Shakespeare Festival of Barcelona and Catalonia and will take place at the Teatre Auditori de Granollers on 17/04.

A project developed in partnership with the Banco Sabadell Foundation.

The ITB talks will be moderated by students from the Social and Community Action program at the Institut del Teatre.
